Iran, as one of the most ancient civilizations of the world owns an enormous wealth of traditional masterpieces; wherever you go you will come across various local handmade products made by Iranian artisans. Handicrafts are important cultural exports and the best souvenir which can be the representative of the Persian culture. Carpet

Carpet is a type of woven spread made of cotton, wool and in some cases silk that is commonly used to cover the floor. Gabbeh

Gabbeh is kind of a carpet that is usually woven in small size by Lor and Qashqai nomads. Gabbeh has long villi and more weaves are used in its texture, which has a significant effect on Gabbeh's softness. The number of wefts of some gabbehs sometimes reaches from three to eight wefts in each ridge and the height of the villi sometimes up to one centimeter.

Gelim

Gelim (or kilim) is a rug that is woven from weaving fabric onto woven threads. Glim or plush is a type of underlayment and covering handicraft that is woven from silk, goat hair, fleece or other domestic animals. The kilim, in its traditional form, is commonly used to cover floors, walls or bedspreads for load-bearing animals, but is now also purchased as a modern cover for townhouses. The colors used in traditional kilims are Plant dyes. Sometimes kilims are washed with tea and walnut shell for more effect and aging of the color.
